frequently asked questions

1. What styles do you teach?
At LDMA, we teach three different martial arts: Traditional TaeKwonDo, Brazilian JiuJitsu, and Kickboxing. These three arts are different, to meet the needs of our customers, however all taught in the same constructive and safe environment.

2. What makes your school better than others?
LDMA prides itself on providing the best instruction available in a clean, professional, family-oriented environment. Our instructors have legitimate credentials under nationally recognized associations. It is easy for us to tell you why we think our school is the best, but it is better for you to simply come in and find out for yourself.

3. How long does it take to get a black belt?
This questions depends on several things: (1) The program which they are training; (2) How often the student trains (takes class); (3) The student’s ability to understand and perform the material taught. Where obtaining rank is important, we like for our students to think about “letting rank chase you and you not chase it”. If students enjoy their training and continue with it regularly, black belt will follow.

6. Are full-time instructors important?
Would you go to a part-time doctor? Would you want your child to learn from someone just “moonlighting” as a teacher? Sharing the benefits of martial arts is our passion and not a task that we take lightly. With that being said, we feel that every professional school should have at least one full-time instructor.

7. I currently take or have taken another kind of martial arts. Would I have to start all over again at your school as a white belt?
You do not necessarily have to start over again with rank. We will work with you to determine the best rank for you in our system depending on your current rank, skill set and needs. Our goal is for you to learn and succeed! Placing you in the wrong rank, either too high or too low, will sabotage your success.

8. Will martial arts make my child aggressive?
Absolutely not! As a matter of fact, you will find that your child has more control and patience after taking classes with us!

9. Do you have to be young and in shape for martial arts?
Not at all! Martial arts are one of the few activities in which you compete with only yourself. So no matter what age or shape you are in when you start, as long as you keep trying, you will see real progress.

10. Am I going to get injured?
Not if we can help it! We have professionally trained staff, structured curriculum, padded floors, and padded equipment to make sure that your training is challenging without injury. LDMA teaches students how to train “hard” and train “smart” at the same time. Additionally, our “Egos at the door, training on the floor” philosophy helps deter many of the problems associated with injury.

11. Can anyone join?
No...we are a private business and selective about our students. We only want productive citizens within our community. LDMA has many children, women, professionals, and law enforcement inside our program. We require all members to provide information for basic background checks to be made. This is to ensure the safest environment for our clients.

12. What is the difference between LDMA and “MMA” schools?
Unlike most area "MMA" schools, LDMA actually has true credentials behind their school and instructor’s rank. Our instructors have experience competing in TaeKwonDo and Brazilian JiuJitsu tournaments, Kickboxing, and Mixed Martial Art events. LDMA students truly learn and develop a concrete skill-set through a structured curriculum. This ensures students learn a Martial Art before "mixing" them.  Most of all, we are a professional business who places a lot of time and care in to each student.  We always recommend people to visit our school to see why we offer better place to train.
